MINNEAPOLIS - Carlos Pena has been dropped from fourth to seventh in the lineup in order to “lighten his load,” according to Joe Maddon.
The two had a long, closed door meeting in Maddon’s office this afternoon and Pena emerged smiling.
Maddon said Pena has been pressing lately. You might have noticed Pena threw his bat after striking out with runners on the corners to end the fifth.
Upton will likely return to the starting lineup tomorrow, and Maddon said there is a good chance we might see Upton tonight.
