Forum: Talk Rays
|
BOSTON—The Rays have been consistent in saying they would not remove the tarps in the upper level of Tropicana Field until the World Series, when MLB took control of the building and wanted maximum capacity, but they have given in to demand and changed their minds.
The Rays would remove the tarps for potential ALCS Games 6 and 7, adding 5,762 seats, the team announced today.
“Even before we put our first Division Series games on-sale, interest in Rays postseason tickets was extraordinary,” Rays president Matt Silverman said in a news release. “Although the seating capacity we established provides an optimal fan experience, Rays fans have made it very clear that they want us to make every possible seating opportunity available. We are pleased to meet that demand.”
The team also announced that tickets for a potential ALCS Game 6 will go on sale Wednesday. Those who have preregistered who are granted an opportunity to buy tickets will be notified via e-mail tomorrow morning and will be able to purchase tickets online beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Any remaining tickets would go on sale Thursday morning to those who did not preregister.
Details on tickets for an ALCS Game 7 still have not been released.
Fans who have not already registered can do so for a chance to purchase World Series tickets through 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

Re: Statements by Mike in St. Pete. I am a full season ticket holder in the upper deck at the Trop. I dispute the statement about the blocked view. Any seats in the upper area of the upper deck are blocked to some extent, and it gets worse as you go up. You can’t see fly balls. In addition, the limited restroom facilities in the upper area become overwhelmed when the crowd exceeds 30,000. It will be a total mess up there with 43,000 in attendance. The Trop was poorly designed and will literally be bursting at the seams with a full house. See you there. Go rays!!!!

Sanity returns to the Trop!! What sub genius decided not to uncover them in earlier playoff games?

What bugs me is all these people I see winning these lottery’s that live out of state. Then selling the tickets over 100 of what they are worth. It’s crap, I have went to 2 games but got very lucky to only have to spend $210 for tickets.

Makes you wonder how they designed that thing in the first place.

About time!!! I’m sick of looking at those things covering up seats when so many people weren’t able to get tickets. Not to mention it’s embarassing to explain to out of town family and friends why your stadium has so many seats covered up. Only the very top rows of one or two sections actually have a blocked view of the field.
About time!
Go RAYS!!!!

To Gary Major, I’m a season ticket holder in the uppers and as I can agree about the Rest Rooms I totally disagree about being able to see. NO BLOCKAGE in the uppers until you get to the TOP. I hope they put extra help on for the Rest Rooms
