KISSIMMEE—The Rays sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the first inning and took a 3-0 lead against the Houston Astros and LHP Wandy Rodriguez. Tampa Bay’s runs were scored on an RBI single by Evan Longoria, an opposite-field RBI double by Carlos Pena and a sacrifice fly by Kelly Shoppach.
Rays 3, Astros 0.
RHP James Shields, Tampa Bay’s Opening Day starter, will take the hill for the Rays.
