Forum: Talk Rays
|
ANAHEIM—Before we get downstairs to see how Troy Percival did in the simulated inning he threw about an hour ago, the Rays have announced the signing of six picks from this year’s draft:
OF Brian Bryles (12th round)
RHP Jason McEachern (13th)
OF Jason Appel (22nd)
LHP Marquis Fleming (24th)
LHP Michael Jarman (26th)
RHP James Bagley (35th)
It has been previously reported that sixth-rounder Shane Dyer has verbally agreed to terms with the Rays, but apparently all the paperwork isn’t done on that one.

Classless Rays
Recently a friend was diagnosed with stage four terminal cancer and send home from the hospital for his last days. This gentleman was an executive with a major corpoation in Sarasota and an avid Rays fan from day one. Staff from the corporation and friends contacted the Rays front office in an attempt to grant a dying man’s last wish, a signed Rays baseball. The Rays front office personnel either blew off the request or did not return numerous voice mail requests. The Rays may be improving on the field but their front office needs to remember the importance of having fans. How much time and effort would it have been to send a baseball to a dying fan? The Rays have now lost atleast two fans.
