The Rays signed former Oriole Luke Scott on Wednesday. The team is expected to make the announcement Thursday afternoon.
The left-handed hitting Scott, 33, missed most of last season after having surgery in July to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
He had averaged 25 home runs during his previous three seasons with the Orioles.
Scott will likely be the Rays DH. He can also add depth to the outfield.
Here are his career numbers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/scottlu01.shtml
Signing Scott likely means Johnny Damon will not return this season.
