ST. PETERSBURG—The Rays play the Phillies again tonight at the Trop, and it can’t possibly go much worse than last night.
Manager Joe Maddon wanted his players to forget about the 10-1 loss to the team that defeated them in the 2008 World Series, and it sounds like they have. Tonight, Matt Garza (4-5, 3.83) goes for Tampa Bay against Joe Blanton (4-3, 5.28). Blanton earned the win in Game 4 of the World Series last fall, a 10-2 Philadelphia victory.
Well, here’s Tampa Bay’s lineup:
B.J. Upton, CF
Carl Crawford, LF
Evan Longoria, 3B
Carlos Pena, 1B
Pat Burrell, DH
Jason Bartlett, SS
Ben Zobrist, 2B
Gabe Gross, RF
Dioner Navarro, C
