ST. PETERSBURG With their Cy Young Award-contending ace on the mound, the Rays will try to clinch their season series with the Angels and at least remain one-half game behind the Yankees in the AL East tonight at Tropicana Field.
David Price (17-6, 2.75 ERA), who is 2-0 with an 0.82 ERA in three starts this month, faces Joel Pineiro (10-7, 4.18), who has won seven of his last eight decisions.
The Rays will go with a lefty-heavy lineup that includes John Jaso, Carl Crawford, Dan Johnson, Matt Joyce, Carlos Pena, Reid Brignac and switch-hitting Ben Zobrist.
Tampa Bay is 4-3 against the Angels this season after falling 4-3 Friday night, and the teams have two games left. New York, which moved back into first place Friday night, plays at Baltimore tonight.
