LAS VEGAS—It looks like we’ve got some late-night news.
The Rays are set to send 14-game winner Edwin Jackson to the Tigers for 24-year-old outfielder Matt Joyce, a Tampa native.
The deal, which was first reported by Fox Sports, will be officially announced at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Joyce made his big-league debut in 2008, hitting 12 homers in 92 games with Detroit. Five of them came in his first 36 at-bats.
The left-handed hitter’s most glaring weakness in his first big-league season was hitting the breaking ball, and he is currently playing winter ball in Mexico in an attempt to address that issue. Joyce is hitting .291 with eight homers and 25 RBIs in 30 games for Mexico City.

Seems like for Jackson the Rays could have asked the Tigers to include Ryan Raburn. Then they would have had an all-Hillsborough county platoon in RF!
