ST. PETERSBURG - WIth a new designated hitter in the lineup, the Rays will try to complete a sweep of the AL West-leading Rangers this afternoon at Tropicana Field.
Carlos Pena gets a day off his feet in the field and will bat fifth as the DH. Ben Zobrist slots in at first base against left-handed pitcher Derek Holland, Sean Rodriguez starts in right field and Reid Brignac starts at second base.
Injured starting pitchers Jeff Niemann and Wade Davis threw bullpen sessions today, and both went well, manager Joe Maddon said. Both pitchers are on target to return next week at Anaheim.
