MIAMI No horns today. Just golf balls, which came with the golf towel those who entered Sun Life Stadium for the finale of this three-game series received as they walked through the gates.
Rays pitcher David Price, who leads at the AL in wins and ERA, has not showed any ill effects from being hit below the belt Saturday afternoon with a baseball thrown by Wade Davis and will make his scheduled start.
He’s opposed by Josh Johnson (7-2, 1.86 ERA), making this a pretty good matchup.
Marlins All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez is not in the lineup after straining a hamstring Saturday night. Jason Bartlett has a scheduled day off so as not to tax his right hamstring, which sent him to the DL earlier this month.
One pregame item of note: manager Joe Maddon said he is considering flipping James Shields, who pitched an inning of relief Saturday night, with Matt Garza during this week’s series with the Padres at the Trop, meaning Garza will pitch Wednesday and Shields on Thursday.
