Forum: Talk Rays

OAKLAND—The Rays’ hot start and other events around baseball have inspired Sports Illustrated to create what they tell us is their first-ever cartoon cover.
It accompanies a story by SI’s Tom Verducci, who spent quite a bit of time at the Trop last week.
The issue hits newsstands tomorrow.
Updating with a hat tip to commenter JimmyDee, here’s a story that tells how this cover came to be.

GO RAYS! It’s so nice to turn on the radio sports shows and actually have them give time out of the show to talk about the Rays! AWESOME! So glad that people are finally stepping up and watching! woooo whoooo! GO RAYS!

"Break up the Bucs” cover. Break up the “Mighty Rays” cover. New uniforms for both and the curse is officially broken! The “devil” has been cast out. I’m feeling connected with our national pastime. I can’t even tell you what this means to me and my Little Engine that Could town on the bay. I love the Rays! See you at the game Saturday night.
