NEW YORK—I wonder if Ernie Banks would have been as enthusiastic if they’d played split doubleheaders back in the day. Yeah, he probably would have.
So we’re here in the Bronx, ready to strap it on for the next 12 hours or so.
Before we get to the opener, B.J. Upton said he’s “100 percent” ready to start Game 2 tonight.
Updating: Joe Maddon said Pena, Longoria and Burrell all will start both games. In addition to Upton, Iwamura, Brignac and Zaun will definitely start Game 2. The corner outfield slots for the nightcap are still to be determined.
