TORONTO We welcome Andy Freed back to the air after missing four games with laryngitis. His tag-team partner Dave Wills said Freed will ease back into it and is on a pitch count – word count? – to be determined.
Oh, those two.
Anyway, the Rays hope to continue to inch closer to the Yankees in the Wild Card standings, having already picked up a game and half since beginning this four-game series with the Blue Jays on Friday night.
It’s Ivan Nova against Zach Britton down in Baltimore this afternoon, so you might want to keep an eye on that.
Here at the Rogers Centre, Davis Price will look to continue his streak of terrific outings. He’s pitched eight innings in each of his last three starts and with a little bit of run sport his last time out against Brady Penny and the Tigers, Price could be 3-0 instead of 2-1 in those outings.
Johnny Damon returns to the lineup at DH.
Casey Kotchman seems to be past the flu-like symptoms that forced him to the bench at the start of Saturday’s game and is back in the lineup.
We’ve been told Kyle Farnsworth, who wasn’t available Saturday because of tenderness in his right elbow, should be available today. We’ll see.
Here is the Rays lineup:
Jennings LF
Damon DH
Longoria 3B
Zobrist 2B
Kotchman 1B
Upton CF
Joyce RF
Jaso C
Rodriguez SS
