The Rays traded with the Marlins today, exchanging minor league catcher Jake Jefferies for RHP Burke Badenhop.
The Rays tendered Badenhop, meaning he is in the running for one of the remaining spots in the bullpen.
Badenhop, who turns 29 in February, has spent parts of four seasons with the Marlins. He made 50 appearances in 2011 and was 2-3 with a save and a 4.10 ERA. In 63 2/3 innings he allowed 65 hits. He struck out 51 and walked 24.

Jefferies was taken in the third round of the 2008 draft. He split the 2011 season between Class A Charlotte and Double A Montgomery.
