We finally have start times for the Rays’ first two playoff games, and as all of us expected, they’re early.
The opener at the Trop will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and Game 2 will be Friday at 6 p.m. Both will be televised by TBS, and will be the first game on the schedule each day.
The Rays may be a great story, but the networks figure they’ll get a lot more eyeballs on the big-market teams in the playoffs. With heavyweights like the Red Sox, Angels, Cubs and Dodgers involved, it’s a good bet most or all of the Rays’ ALDS games will begin early enough that the kids shouldn’t miss too much sleep.

Sorry—but this decision has made me and a lot of other ticket holders VERY ANGRY.
To wait until less than a week before the game to tell us that it’s in the middle of the day???? I’ve had it with Bud Selig and the rest of the MLB honchos.
What about those of us who WORK FOR A LIVING!!! A lot of us can’t just take half a day off!! Many people bought tix thinking the game would be in the evening.
This is a HORRIBLE SLAP IN THE FACE.

Michael,
You should have expected it. Don’t get mad that you didn’t know and is a slap in the face. It’s about the money.

Whose brilliant idea was it to put ANY MLB playoff game on in the middle of the afternoon..let alone the team with the biggest story in baseball?? Could you imagine if the NFL put its playoff games on TV at 2 oclock in the afternoon on a Thursday? Its unbelievable to me. So not only can I not watch the game on Thursday since I actually have a job and all…I cant even listen to the game on radio because 1250AM does not come in in Pasco County. Gee…my Monday just keeps getting better and better.

I think I am one of the few people that are glad it is at 2:30. I get to watch the Rays playoff game, then drive to Tampa to watch USF vs Pittsburg. What a great sports day!

Mike, a slap in the face? Really? It’s the Playoffs man! I’ll take time off work for that. How many chances do you get to see the RAYS IN THE PLAYOFFS?? What else are you going to do with your PTO time? Take a day off to lay in the hammock?
I’m stoked and can’t wait. I’ll be in the parking lot at noon (hopefully in the main lot) getting riled up for the game. I was there on opening day and there’s no WAY I’d miss their first playoff game!

I love it that we are in the play-offs. But after buying tickets they schedule the games during the day. I wish more of the regular games were in the day. They should have posted the times before they put the tickets up for sale.

I’m not mad about the time change, but bud s. really is starting to get on my nerves. He is screwing the Rays over, I mean its going to be 11am over on the west coast not many people will get to see them, I think a lot of people are mad about the whole situation. These guys should have played prime time with everyone watching the rays first playoff game ever. On top of that its hurting the t.v ratings for the rays front office. ON the bright side I’m calling out of work! getting there early, to cheer on our Rays to their first playoff victory.lol Michael don’t take it as a slap in the face, take it as you were stood up by a hot girl and her lame excuse was “I thought you said to meet you at 2:40pm!”

I know that being a Rays fan makes me new to the postseason afternoon games that I should have expected, but I would sincerely have enjoyed being able to see the first Rays playoff game EVER. I have season tickets, support the team, and buy the gear. My job affords me this ability to support. So, the RAYS will just have to miss having members of their target market (people with real jobs) at the game to enjoy the experience. I will miss being there.
