BOSTON - B.J. Upton has just hit a three-run home run out of Fenway Park and Evan Longoria has hit a solo home run in the top of the third and the Rays have taken a 5-0 lead over the Red Sox and Jon Lester in Game 3.
Jason Bartlett, the Rays’ toughest hitter against lefthanders, led off the inning with single. Akinori Iwamura followed with a double off the Green Monster. With runners at second and third and none out, Upton blasted his fifth home run of the postseason. The shot cleared the seats atop the Green Monster and landed somewhere outside the stadium.
Rookie Longoria’s fourth home run of the postseason landed in the Green Monster seats in left center field.
Lester went 3-0 with an 0.90 ERA against the Rays during the regular season and entered with a career postseason record of 2-0 with an 0.77 ERA.
