Target Field, the new home of the Twins
ROGER MOONEY
MINNEAPOLIS - The Rays will take the field tonight in the Twins new digs, Target Field. It is the 37th field the Rays have played in since 1998 and one of the finest.
There are 14 Christmas trees beyond the center field wall and a giant Twins logo high above center field.
Giant baseball cards of Twins players line the walkway around the outside of the stadium. A statue of Rod Crew greets fans who approach from downtown.
Downtown Minneapolis sits beyond the right field seats.
Now for the news:
Center fielder B.J. Upton said his right quad is better but is still day-to-day. He’s not in the lineup tonight but is available for pinch-hitting duties if need be. Upton said he injured the quad not trying to stretch a double into a triple Tuesday night but running into make a catch while playing center field in the ninth inning.
