Rays manager Joe Maddon has suggested that his club may be under some kind of spiritual influence emanating from Cleveland’s famed Terminal Tower. The Rays have lost 17 in a row at Progressive Field entering tonight’s opener in a three-game weekend series.

CLEVELAND - Left fielder Carl Crawford says he has recovered from being hit in the groin area by a pickoff throw Tuesday at Baltimore and he’s in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Indians.
“I’m feeling better now,” Crawford said. “I’m feeling better to play, so I’ll be good.”
There isn’t too much to report from manager Joe Maddon’s pre-game availability. Maddon talked about Mitch Talbot, the former Rays prospect who will start against the Indians on Saturday night. He said Talbot, whom the Rays traded for veteran catcher Kelly Shoppach, has a “really good changeup, a nice cutter (and) slider ... and a great delivery.”
Maddon also called right fielder Shin-Soo Choo, whom the Indians activated off the disabled list Friday, one of the best players in the American League.
“There’s nothing he cannot do,” Maddon said. “Offense, defense, running base running, arm strength. It’s just spectacular. This guy is a really good player.”
Here’s the Rays’ lineup as they try to break their 17-game losing streak at Progressive Field and 10-game losing streak on Friday nights:
Zobrist, RF
Crawford, LF
Longoria, 3B
Pena, 1B
Joyce, DH
Jaso, C
Upton, CF
Brignac, 2B
Bartlett, SS
