Anaheim—The Rays do have an interest in Dodger left fielder Manny Ramirez, but they have an interest in anyone who is or will be placed on waivers.
Manny’s recent injury history is a big concern. They don’t want to spend what it will take to get him here only to see him get hurt.
Joe Maddon made a pitch for Johnny Damon to opt for Detroit over Boston.
Grant Balfour threw a bullpen today at the Trop, and Maddon said he could be back sooner than expected.
Maddon is sticking with the same lineup tonight for an unprecedented third straight game. The reason, of course, is Angel starter Scott Kazmir is the third lefty the Rays will have faced in three games. Maddon said this could be his lineup against left-handers in the foreseeable future.
