The start of the high school baseball season is just around the corner, which means various preseason national polls will begin to surface.
One has been published, and the Alonso Ravens received a lofty ranking in it.
Alonso, the Class 6A state champions last season, is ranked No. 4 in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s 2010 Easton Sports Preseason National poll. Virginia’s Menchville High, which finished atop the poll last season, is the preseason No. 1.
The Ravens, who return a bevy of talent, including Thomas Dorminy, the Tribune’s reigning Player of the Year, are one of a handful of Florida teams ranked in the poll, which lists the top 30 high school programs.
