More signings, announced and soon to be announced, around the NASL today.
First up, the Carolina Railhawks have signed for the UNC-Greensboro standout Floyd Franks, who has been playing in the Danish second division with Blockhus, where he had four goals and 13 assists in 33 games.
Franks previously played for Railhawks coach Martin Rennie when Rennie was in charge of the Cleveland City Stars.
Here’s a link to the Railhawks current roster. What do you make of the team they’re assembling?
Up in the Pacific Northwest, the Portland Timbers opened a four-day minicamp involving 27 signed and trialist players. The club’s website updated this notebook from the opening day.
Elsewhere, the Rochester Rhinos are poised to unveil more signings on Tuesday, according to the club’s official Twitter feed.
Elsewhere on Twitter, U.S. International striker Charlie Davies is on his way back to France tomorrow. In Davies’ feed, which can be found here, he says he’s enjoying his final night in the U.S. for a while.
Other international news, and not good news at that, coming from Denmark, where midfielder Benny Feilhaber has injured an ankle in training with Aarhus. He’s going to undergo a scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury. If it’s just a sprain, he could still be in consideration for the U.S. squad to face Holland on March 3.

That’s a pretty decent roster. Some players that have played overseas and a lot of former MLS players. Can’t wait to play this this year!

I’m really hoping Davies will be back for the World Cup. He was our best striker in all of ‘09. I don’t think Feilhaber’s injury is going to be too serious. Even if he can’t make the game against Holland, I feel he already has a spot on the WC squad, as he deserves it.
