TAMPA - The details are out on rookie DT Brian Price’s contract. Price’s agent, Chuck Price, confirmed to The Tribune the numbers that show Price’s deal is worth $5.35 million overall and includes a $2.72 million signing bonus.
Other details include a guaranteed salary for 2010 of $320,000 and base salaries of $405,000 in 2011, $490,000 in 2012 and $575,000 in 2013. That 2013 salary is guaranteed by the way.
Price can also earn another $300,000 in 2013 if he reaches a specified playing time mark in his first two seasons and completes a certain percentage of off-season workouts between 2011 and 2013.
The other bonuses mean Price has guaranteed payments of $3.55 million coming to him from this deal, which is believed to represents about an 8-percent increase over the deal cut for last year’s 35th overall pick, Rams LB James Laurinaitis.
“We didn’t swing for the fences with this deal,’’ Chuck Price said. “We didn’t try to hit a grand slam. We just wanted a deal that was fair for Brian and put him in position to be with the team from Day 1 of training camp.’’
