Price will try to finally beat Texas

ST. PETERSBURG - Rays’ No. 1 starter David Price hasn’t fared well against the Rangers. He is 0-2 with 7.45 ERA in four regular-season starts in the regular season, and he lost two duels with Cliff Lee in the postseason last year. Price will get a chance to finally beat the Rangers in today’s series finale at Tropicana Field.
First baseman Casey Kotchman (sprained ankle) is out of the lineup for the third consecutive day. Manager Joe Maddon said he might be available to pinch-hit today, but he wouldn’t know for sure until he received an update from trainer Ron Porterfield.
Maddon’s lineup has John Jaso leading off and Johnny Damon, the usual No. 2 hitter, in the fifth spot. Ben Zobrist is second and hot-hitting Matt Joyce third. Maddon said he batted Joyce third to assure that he has protection (Evan Longoria in the cleanup spot).
After today’s game, the Rays head out on a 11-game road trip to Seattle, Anaheim, Baltimore and Detroit.
