Next week, Plant coach Robert Weiner will be instructing middle school age kids at his inaugural youth football camp. In January, Weiner will be coaching some of the top high school football talent in the nation.

Weiner’s been tabbed to help coach the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game, an annual all-star game filled with some of the best high school players in the country. Plant players Phillip Ely and James Wilder, Jr. have been invited to play in the game.

“It will be a privilege to coach in that game,” said Weiner, whose coaching role in the game has yet to be determined. “When we went before when Aaron [Murray] and Orson [Charles] played, [Armwood’s] Sean Callahan was coaching that year, so I had a chance to sit down and talk to him about the excitement of that. As coaches, you just like the opportunity to be around other great coaches and great players.”

As for his foray into the camp business, next week’s ALL IN Football Camp at Skyway Park (www.allinfootballcampsbyrobertweiner.com), Weiner’s looking forward to promoting his passion for football.

“The camp will teach the fundamentals and will give them some competitive games to play,” Weiner said. “I think it will spark the learning and spark the competitiveness in the young kids.”
