Hillsborough County: |

With all due respect to Darrell Jackson, Stephen Garcia and most recently, Matt Patchan, but when all is said and done, Plant quarterback Aaron Murray will go down as the most heavily recruited player in Hillsborough County.
Sound like hyperbole? Just check out the scholarship offers that came in last week: Alabama, LSU, Miami, South Carolina, Notre Dame. Those colleges join a list that already includes Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. One day last week, Murray chatted on the phone with Alabama coach Nick Saban, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier and Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis. As Panthers coach Robert Weiner said “that’s not a bad day.”
As of Monday morning, Murray has totaled 43 scholarship offers. By the time he makes his decision, that total could double. Murray is expected to narrow his choices this spring and will make a formal announcement this summer before the start of his senior season.
Here’s a complete list of Murray’s offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Army, Auburn, Boston College, Clemson, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Florida International, Florida State, Georgia, Harvard, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Methodist, Stanford, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UCF, UCLA, USF, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

The bonus Murray brings that Garcia and Marv don’t have is real class and character on and off the field. He is in several of my daughters AP and honors classes at Plant and a member of the National Honor Society. He seems to be a real humble kid, never taking credit, but always complimenting his teammates when he’s interviewed. I think he’s the real deal

Murray may end up being the most recruited football player in the counties history. Stephen Garcia had just as many offers if not more at this point and thousands of South Carolina boosters emailing him daily. University of Miami offered him as a freshman. I hope for Murray’s sake the circus that surrounded the recruiting of Garcia is not as chaotic for Murray. Murray has to get Plant on national TV in my opinion to surpass Garcia. I believe he is better mechanically than Robert Marve
but still believe Marve was best QB in Plant history. However Murray still has one more season to surpass Marve. Murray has to win a title to surpass Marve. I would definately put Murray in the nations elite category.

Congratulations!
Hope he commits early so he can concentrate on the season and getting Plant back to the state title game.
