Plant’s Martin medically cleared after concussion

Plant defensive back Javonte Martin was medically cleared on Tuesday, less than two weeks after suffering a concussion in the Panthers victory against Armwood.

Martin, one of the county’s top defensive backs, missed last Friday’s game against Gaither. He suffered the concussion near the end of the first half of the game against Armwood while making a tackle. Plant coach Robert Weiner said they’ll see how Martin does the rest of the week before determining whether he will play Friday against Spoto.

“I’m not going to risk getting him injured again,” Weiner said. “We’re going to be extra safe with him.”
