Plant sophomore pitcher Jake Woodford has verbally committed to the University of Florida, Panthers’ coach Dennis Braun announced Monday.
Woodford went 2-0 as a freshman in nine appearances with a 3.17 ERA and 15 strikeouts. Woodford joins senior Pete Alonso (already signed) and sophomore Kyle Tucker as Gators commits from Plant.
Woodford was recently named to the 2012 Perfect Game WWBA World All-Tourney Team after earning a win in his lone performance of the tournament going four innings and striking out seven.
