Alonso quarterback C.J. Bennett didn’t waste any time in trying to get some local athletes to join him at South Alabama.

A day after Bennett committed during a visit to the school, Plant’s leading scorer T.J. Glover gave his verbal commitment to the Jaguars. He chose South Alabama over Western Michigan, Georgia Southern, Delaware and Towson.

“I got to know the team and the coaches,” Glover said, calling from Mobile, Ala. during his official visit. “I just knew that this was the college for me.”

Glover, the fastest player on the state championship team, led the team with 109 points and was the second-leading rusher for the Panthers. As a senior starter, he had 86 carries for 938 yards and 11 touchdowns and also 21 receptions for 348 yards and six touchdowns.

With an average of 10.91 yards per carry, Glover had some of his biggest performances in the playoffs this past season, including a 144-yard rushing effort against Plant City and 139 yards against Countryside.
