Plant’s Catanach picks Loyola Maryland

Plant senior outside hitter Tina Catanach said she has verbally committed to Division I Loyola University-Maryland, making her the third college commit on Plant’s 2010 volleyball roster. Outside hitter Alex Johnson (Georgetown) and middle blocker Paige Tuttle (Troy) have also committed.

Catanach, daughter of the University of Tampa women’s volleyball coach Chris Catanach, finished the 2009 season with 131 kills, 36 aces, 36 blocks and 85 digs to help Plant win the Class 6A state championship and fourth consecutive title.

“The coach told me he wants me to come in and compete [for a starting position] as a freshman,” Catanach said.
