Plant junior Nastasia Asgedom confirmed she has verbally committed to Virginia Tech.
The Panthers speedy midfielder is tied for the team lead with 10 goals this season and has added five assists.
Asgedom said it was “a big relief” to have an offer and commitment in her junior season. She said she took an unofficial visit to the school and was sold on the campus and facilities, but it was the team’s closeness that really keyed her decision.
“I really liked how the team had this close bond,” Asgedom said. The environment was like a family with the players looking out for each other coaching staff was definitely a part of it as well.”
Plant (11-1-1) will host the girls Class 5A-District 7 tournament and is the top seed earning a first round bye.
