You have to go back five years for the last time Plant has lost two-consecutive games. But that’s exactly how they’ve opened the 2009 season, with losses in the Kickoff Classic to Bradenton Manatee, which doesn’t count against their record, and then to Tampa Bay Tech last Friday.
At Monday’s practice, the focus was on the Hillsborough Terriers, Plant’s opponent on Friday and how they can prevent from losing three straight.

“The talk from our guys is they’re pretty tired of losing,” Plant coach Robert Weiner said. “So we’re going to do anything to make sure that we stop that streak right now.”
The Panthers have learned from both those losses. Against Manatee, Weiner thought the Hurricanes were in better condition, so they’ve amped up their conditioning to get in better shape. And against Tech, there were several correctable miscues that led to the Titans come-from-behind victory.
“There were five or six plays and honestly, if we make one of those plays, we win the game,” Weiner said. “It’s all a matter of being detail oriented and paying attention to the small things.”
