Plant quarterback Phillip Ely and Alonso defensive end Anthony Chickillo are the latest area players to nab a national ranking.
Ely’s ranked 28th in FlaVarsity.com’s Top 100 list, while Chickillo is ranked 36th. Earlier this week, the 50-100 players were released and Jefferson receiver Andre Davis (No. 60), Plant City offensive lineman Jordan Prestwood (No. 65), Armwood quarterback Joshua Grady (No. 69), Freedom linebacker Keith Lewis (No. 83), Jefferson receiver Chris Moore (No. 84), Tampa Catholic fullback Hunter Joyer (No. 88), Plant offensive lineman Tony Posada (No. 96) and Robinson receiver Ruben Gonzalez (No. 98) earned recognition.
The top 10 will be released soon and it’s a given that Plant two-way starter James Wilder, Jr. will be there, but where remains to be seen.
