Despite winning its regular season opener 10-0 against Tampa Bay Tech, Plant dropped in national rankings for the second-consecutive week.
In the ESPN Powerade Fab 50 rankings, Plant fell three spots to No. 43. The Panthers were ranked as high as No. 2 by ESPN before their Kickoff Classic loss to Bradenton Manatee. Jefferson earned some votes for the first time following its victory against Hillsborough.
Plant’s Week 3 opponent, Texas Abilene, remained ESPN’s No. 1 team and received four of the five first-place votes. To see the complete ESPN list, click here.
The Panthers actually improved their rankings in the RivalsHigh 100. Plant moved up to No. 67 from 78. They opened the preseason ranked No. 1 in the nation by Rivals. Both Armwood and Jefferson dropped, despite victories last Friday. Armwood fell two spots to No. 22 and Jefferson fell 22 spots to No. 65.
