Plant City running back Dazmond Patterson has been named one of 12 finalists for the Rudy Award, an honor bestowed on a football player who has overcome obstacles to succeed on the field and in the classroom.
Patterson’s inspirational profile can be seen in Sunday’s Parade Magazine. He will be featured along with the other nationwide finalists.
This past season, Patterson led the Raiders in rushing despite missing the final three games with an ankle injury. He will graduate early from Plant City and is bound for Ohio University.
The school recently had a send-off party for Patterson and quarterback Bennie Coney, who is also graduating early and heading to Cincinnati.
