It sounded good in theory – Plant’s three Division I players announcing their college commitments at the same time. But Plant coach Robert Weiner said that won’t be the case.
Contrary to several reports, Phillip Ely, Tony Posada and James Wilder, Jr. won’t be making their college choices together at a press conference. Ely and Posada will announce together the second week of August after Weiner and several Plant players volunteer their time at the MDA Camp.

And Wilder? Could be before the start of his senior season or not. Plant’s two-way starter wants to play running back exclusively in college and has narrowed his lengthy list of offers to six favorites - Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Miami.
“I switched up and changed my mind a little bit after talking with my family and decided that I’m going to wait it out a little bit and take more of my visits,” Wilder told the Tampa Tribune. “However long it takes for me to visit my favorites and do my homework and maybe take a second look if I need to. It could be in the middle of the season or even before, but I’m not in a hurry. It’s where I’m going to be for the next four years, so I thought I should wait and see everything.”
Ely, who was recently named Most Versatile at the Elite 11 QB Camp, has nearly 30 Division I offers, including Arizona State, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss and USF. Posada, the Panthers starting right tackle, has more than 25 Division I offers, has narrowed it down to his favorites.
Posada will choose between Michigan, Missouri, Texas Tech and USF.
“It will be one of those four,” Posada said. “Playing time is not going to be a big factor for me. If I’m ready to go out and play, I’m ready, but that’s not a big factor for me. A big factor for me is if I like the school, the coaches, the city, cause I’m going to live there for four years.”
