Bucs Report
Pittman Signs With Broncos

Former Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman has signed with Denver according to a report on ESPN.com.

Pittman, a 10-year veteran, ranks fourth all-time in team history with 3,364 rushing yards (5,307 overall), sixth in team history with 284 career receptions (415 overall), and owns four of the 16 longest rushing plays in team history. His defining moment was rushing 29 times for 124 yards to lead Tampa Bay to 48-21 Super Bowl victory against Oakland during the 2002 season.

However, Pittman’s value in Tampa Bay dropped with the emergence of Earnest Graham last season, plus the promise of Michael Bennett and addition of Warrick Dunn. Pittman, an unrestricted free agent, said he wanted more playing time and will have an opportunity to compete in Denver. Broncos running back Travis Henry is slowly recovering from a hamstring injury and Pittman will be given the opportunity to play if Henry does not show enough progress in the upcoming months.

Last season, Pittman played running back and fullback and finished with 286 rushing yards, plus had 26 receptions for 191 yards.

Come on Roy!!! Is there any other news coming out of One-Buc place. These subjects are getting old. As old as Billy’s fart dust in his underware.

Wade .... I agree with everything you just said.  Parents should be the primary role model.  I just think that unfortunately kids look to behaviors of stars and athletes, video games, movies, etc. and they do mimic that to some extent.  While I’m an advocate of the 1st amendment, I do believe that you should be held accountable for your actions.  The accountability should be no different if you are famous or rich.

peeps,

do you all think billy has drank enough of the idiot juice? he keeps going on and on about pittman’s wife beating days. granted he like all athletes are role models and should be held accountable for their actions. but i am glad i don’t have kids right now to worry about being around people like billy. but now he is close to declaring war with me on bashing alstott. the man was one heck of a back and you gotta bash him? billy can you do any better? i’d pay for tickets to see you and alstott duke it out.

PWNED!!!!

KBA--At least we can disagree without being disagreaeble. I agree with Barkley. Parents need to understand that they are role models. We can’t rely on athletes to be that (we already rely on teachers to baby sit). Listen, if Pittman did what the reports said he did, he’s a dirt bag. But I wasn’t there so I won’t pretend to judge him. The only thing I do know for sure is that he seemed to be a team player and helped us win games (I saw that with my own eyes every Sunday). To be criticized for my opinion by a hill billy didn’t sit well with me so I jumped into the fray.

Susan,

Honey your right Pittman did a good job while he was here and I wish him the best in Denver. But you have to think our RB possition is loaded right now and Pittman has been here for awhile and only has been a starter once."Somebody had to go.” We brought Dunn back and Bennett is stepping up I hear. It is time for Pittman to go. He’ll have more playing time in Denver.
We will also be alright. I hope you know why now sweetheart!!

Wade ... that’s where you and I disagree.  I do care how players behave off of the field.  Players should be held accountable for their behavior on and off the field.  I gaurantee that if any of us got arrested for DUI’s or for beating our wives, we may get fired.

I’m tired of seeing these pampered stars get tons of money and then act like idiots.  It sets the wrong example for our kids.

Now, some athletes, like Charles Barkley, have said that they aren’t role models for kids.  They unfortunately are wrong.  Kids imitate what they see on T.V. so we should hold these athletes accountable.

i just heard that michael pittmann just sign with the broncos. WHAT WAS TAMPA MGT THINKING!

Posted by  KBA, Orlando on 05/29  at  02:48 PM

Billy ... Since you called out my intelligence, I thought I’d mention that I have a Masters degree from a top tier business school.  You?

Posted by  wade less, clermont on 05/29  at  02:38 PM

Billy Hill is one of those guys that will tell his lil boy, “Look up to Warrick Dunn, he’s such a role model.” He needs to do that because he’s probably a loser and his kids despise him. Not everyone gives a sh1t what the Bucs players do off the field. Why should we? It’s not like we are inviting them over for dinner or marrying of our daughters to them. I think the point being made is that Pitt was a good team player and helped the team win. That’s it. No one is espousing Pitt’s actions. You see our complex minds can separate the playing field and the off-season just like you separate seeds and stems.

billy,

i am glad the hate-or-rade hasn’t totally clouded your judgement. thank you for admitting your comment about galloway was wrong. yes the man is old but he is best WR we got. bryant is an OK addition but not the playmaker we was promised. there are too many guys on the WR roster that i question. but maybe gruden knows something we don’t. i just hate being lied to is all. but allen needs to fork out some cash on garcia and give another couple of years on the contract. he did great last season and yeah i hope the O-line continues to perform for us. not that wacko wade is gone YAY! i was about to deamnd for jeff christy to come back. and i still am hoping we see sapp come back too.

Posted by  KBA, Orlando on 05/29  at  01:28 PM

Billy .... so is Billy Hill your real name or is it your clever way of flipping the word hillbilly and using that as your logon?

Posted by  todd, PSJ, FL. on 05/29  at  12:30 PM

Billy,

I wear size 13, and no I don’t want to buy any shoes from you. How is the shoe selling buisness going for ya? Hopefully alot better than your football intelligence. Your not the one that Pittman beat up are you? Cause you sure do act like a little female dog. You do know what that is don’t you? If I had a B#$ch like you I’d slap you too.

Posted by  KBA, Orlando on 05/29  at  12:19 PM

Billy ... Whatever dude!!!  You’re a joke.  Based on your inability to spell or even form grammatically correct sentences, I’m not really worried about your ability to bring what ever you think you have.  That won’t stop you from writing a response and being a jackass, but just know that I could give two rats.

Posted by  KBA, Orlando on 05/29  at  11:33 AM

Billy Hill ... I liked your response up until you threw out Dorko.  WOW.  I guess the only thing I can respond to is with similar 3rd grade rhetoric (you can look that word up later) by saying that I’m rubber and you’re glue.

Really, that is how you are coming off.

As for WR, I believe we already had a decent corps or receivers and we added a speedster in the draft and a former standout, not to mention a couple of prospects, so I think a lot of you self professed gurus don’t really have a clue. What’s really important is that we took another couple of steps toward having an outstanding line, which will make everybody look better. The ability to have play-action pass is paramount on the pro level, and our O-line was just starting to show their abilities in the second half of last season. That’s the real deal.

Posted by  KBA, Orlando on 05/29  at  07:21 AM

Billy Hill ... You made some interesting comments and some that were rather funny.  However, it’s starting to get old because you’ve more than made your point and you probably aren’t going to change other people’s opinions.  Take the high road and let it go.

Posted by  Skylar, Charlotte, NC on 05/29  at  07:19 AM

We retained Pittman’s services because we were in cap purgatory and couldn’t afford anyone worth a crap once Garner went down (who we also got on the cheap.) He’s in last place (behind Darby) in actual running skills, although he does catch the ball well and blocks decently too. Still, too little upside, comparatively speaking. He had a checkered past, but it does look like he’s changed his life around as he had not been in any trouble in quite some time.

All you who think Michael Pittman was a great running back are “Insane In The Membrane” Pittman is and always will be an “OK” running back.  Any comparison to “Cadillac” is a joke.  I lost all respect for this loser when I read about him trying to “KILL” his wife with his Hummer.  What a loser.  Been wishing he was gone for a long time and have never been happier.  Thomas Jones was “20” times a better running back than this loser.  And every running back now on the roster could smoke his ___ !!!  Once a wife beater...always a wife beater.  Just ask Whitney Houston......
