As you know by now, USF junior DE Jason Pierre-Paul played his final game for the Bulls in Saturday’s victory over Northern Illinois in the International Bowl.
Pierre-Paul received a promising report from the NFL draft advisory board and opted to forego his senior season. Click here for our story in today’s Tampa Tribune.
In his latest Big Board posted on ESPN.com Monday, draft guru Mel Kiper lists Pierre-Paul as one of his top risers and has the 6-foot-6, 260-pound Pierre-Paul as the 11th overall pick in the draft. Pierre-Paul has also signed with top agent Drew Rosenhaus, another sign of Pierre-Paul’s improved draft status.
Surprisingly, Pierre-Paul has moved ahead of Florida’s Carlos Dunlap according to Kiper. Earlier this season, Dunlap was considered the top defensive end prospect in the nation. The Sunshine State is well-represented on Kiper’s latest Big Board.
Florida CB Joe Haden is at No. 6, Pierre-Paul (11th), Dunlap (14th), Florida TE Aaron Hernandez (15th) and Florida State CB Patrick Robinson No. 25.
As for senior defensive ends available in the draft, Kiper does not have former Bulls standout George Selvie in his top 5. According to Kiper, Michigan’s Brandon Graham, Greg Hardy of Ole Miss, Clemson’s Ricky Sapp, TCU’s Jerry Hughes and Florida’s Jermaine Cunningham are the top 5 senior DEs available in the draft.

Drew Rosenhaus?
He just made a deal with the devil.
He should have paid more attention in class. Drew Rosenhaus has been known to kill careers by his hardball negotiations with teams. Some teams will not draft players represented by him.

High Tech Bull:
No doubt, Rosenhaus is sort of like the Scot Boras of the NFL…not well-liked by many teams, but usually produces good results for his clients…not sure how it will play out with Pierre-Paul being represented by him, but I can’t imagine it dropping his stock too much considering he is one of the hot players in the draft with his skyrocket to prominence the past few months. Thanks for reading.

It hurts a little to have him leave but ultimately it’s great for the program to have more USF players in the NFL, especially if they make a splash. Rosenhaus, well, I wish it were someone else, but I feel Drew would not have signed Pierre Paul if he didn’t see BIG TIME written all over him, and that’s how I hope it plays out. THANKS and Good Luck to the young man; I’ll be a (partial) fan of whatever team he plays for!
