Peugeot seems eager to continue its run of endurance success with the fastest time unofficially Tuesday in testing for the 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. The No. 08 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP of Pedro Lamy, Sebastien Bourdais and Nic Minassian posted a fastest lap of 1:46.232 (125.386 mph) around the 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway. The two factory Team Peugeot Total coupes are the favorites in the opening round for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. Aston Martin Racing may have something to say about that in the end, though. The slick Aston Martin V12-powered Lola B09/60 coupe was second quickest on the day at 1:46.557 (125.004 mph). Adrian Fernandez, Harold Primat and Stefan Mücke will drive the works entry.

Mr. Fannin, I was wondering if you have ever been asked this question:
How many laps would a Peugeot win by if an Audi could turn laps at Sebring?
I think I may have an answer.
The Peugeot could would win by as many laps as the ACO wanted!
The amount of laps that Peugeot would win by varies greatly with the individual team members running the car. According to a since deleted post on the ALMS Fan Forum (Back when it was official), an unidentified journalist found that a Peugeot could run laps around 3.5 seconds faster when a Frenchman was driving the car. The poster reasoned that if a Peugeot could win the race, the car would win by an amount equal to laps times 3.5 seconds.

Just to add a little more to the story…
Some say it depends on three factors:
• The Peugeot’s desire to run said laps outside of France without any serious diesel competition.
• The Peugeot’s need to lick it’s wounds from the 2007 and 2008 Le Mans runnings.
• The Peugeot’s ability to run laps when it is a Deisel car in a Petrol world.

what is a Peugeot? Is it like an Aston Martin DBR9 run by Prodrive?
