Bucs Report
Petitgout Used Steroids

Tampa Bay’s release of Luke Petitgout over the weekend may not have fully been attributed to his knee injury.

Petitgout must serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s steroid policy, according to Greg Aiello, the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Public Relations.

Bucs Coach Jon Gruden said the NFL discipline’s did not weigh into Tampa Bay’s decision to release him.

“I do like Luke Petitgout a lot and that’s about all I can say,” Gruden said. “We made the decisions to do what we did for the reasons we said that we did. Bruce [Allen] and the league office I’m sure has that information.

“I think a lot of Luke Petitgout. I think he can come back and play. He’s just got to get right.”

Petitgout came to the Bucs with a history of back problems that kept some teams from taking a chance on him when he hit the free-agent market in 2007.
Those back problems hindered Petitgout all through the Bucs’ 2007 training camp, but he recovered to start the season and played regularly until he suffered the knee injury in Week 4.

Petitgout originall joined the Bucs after signing a three-year, $15.5 million deal.

Hi, Anwar
Petitigout’s sports career seems to be little shaky. He could not stand upto expectations due to knee problem and then with the backache.  Another blow in his career is four game ban for using steroids.  I hope he’ll be back soon with endurance level and fitness.

Petitgout is a HUGE loss for this team.  i like Penn, but he’s nowhere near the technician in pass-protection that Luke it.  This could spell serious trouble for the offense...and will force us leave TEs and RBs back in protection more often.  I hope Penn is up the challenge, because he’s got his work cut out for him.

As for Boldin...it’s a pipe dream people.  When all is said and done, the Cards’ will give him the deal he’s looking for.  However, if there is a chance, the Bucs should look into it.  We can afford him, we need him, and he’s totally worth the 1st round pick AZ is going to want.

Wow, a offensive lineman using steroids. Hopefully with the money saved by releasing Petigout, they can get in on obtaining A. Boldin. I’m curretny listening to Gill Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio and it seems to him the Bucs could be angling to get the wide receiver that they didn’t in the off-season. Galloway has been great, but nearing 37 with the injuries, Boldin would be an excellent upgrade.
Bababooey to all of you.

Petitgout DOMINATED when he was healthy.
That is why Gruden still says “ I think he can come back when he is right” ...isolate on tape and he was one of the best period...exellent technique… I am with Gruden on this one...but we were overly optimistic… A Davis is average...how many times did he give up a sack...alot...go back and watch film of this guy...Penn got the start last year ...what does that say...also Jack DR’s team was in the playoff last year...don’t ever underestimate JAX ...Joseph will be missed but we will be fine… GO BUCS!!

Pettigout’s release was one of Allen’s better decision’s. He was just taking up space.
