Former Pasco High and current Lynn Haven Mosley football coach Perry Brown was inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame last month.
Brown, who Pasco to a Class 3A title in1992 – still the lone state football title in Pasco County, was part of an induction class, which included: Walt Frazier, Miami Carol City (football, retired); Dave Horner, Ocala Forest (basketball, track, retired); Robert Iamurri, Naples (softball); Dean Johnson, Lakeland Christian (soccer); Leo Madrigal, Miami Killian (soccer); and Clyde Metcalf, Sarasota (baseball).
“It’s kind of like going out of that tunnel at the state championship game,” said Brown, who is 188-99 in 27 years as a head coach. “Your guts kind of tighten up. You’re doing something for the first time and there’s a certain excitement. It’s a great feeling. Kind of hard to describe, but it’s really intense.”
