The Rays haven’t made it official, and apparently won’t until after the 10 a.m. deadline tomorrow to submit their roster to MLB, but their 25-man ALDS roster seems set at this point with Troy Percival out. Of course it’s subject to change until official, and there is the formality of MLB needing to sign off on injury replacements in the case of players who weren’t on the major-league roster at midnight Aug. 31 (David Price and Michel Hernandez), but those should be pretty cut and dried.
Without further ado, this is your likely Rays 2008 ALDS roster:
Pitchers
James Shields
Scott Kazmir
Matt Garza
Andy Sonnanstine
Dan Wheeler
Chad Bradford
J.P. Howell
Trever Miller
Grant Balfour
David Price
Catchers
Dioner Navarro
Michel Hernandez
Infielders
Carlos Pena
Akinori Iwamura
Jason Bartlett
Evan Longoria
Willy Aybar
Ben Zobrist
Outfielders/DHs
Carl Crawford
B.J. Upton
Gabe Gross
Eric Hinske
Fernando Perez
Rocco Baldelli
Cliff Floyd

I’m looking at this from afar but why isn’t Edwin Jackson on the roster?

This is our best roster in my opinion no doubt. Percival is a great motivator for any young pitcher but he’s brought them as far as he can. Go Rays… Down the Sox

RAYS ARE READY TO RUMBLE ! <> GOOD JOB OF JOE TO SET THE ROSTER AND ROCCO CAN ENJOY MAYBE HIS LAST RIDE <> LOOK FOR STRONG PITCHING AND LOTS OF SUSPENSE ! <> I THINK THEY HAVE GAME ONE WHICH IS THE WAY THEY USUALLY PLAY !!

In a 5 game series, you won’t be needing every starting pitcher in your regular season rotation. Jackson’s the odd man out and there’s no room in the pen for him.
