The Rays put Troy Percival on the 15-day DL with a strained left hamstring following the game and recalled Mitch Talbot from Durham.
Talbot, 24, will be making his major-league debut. He’s 7-6 with a 4.41 ERA in 17 starts for the Bulls and has been effective lately after a rough start to the season. The Rays will use him in long relief.
Grant Balfour and Dan Wheeler will get the save opportunities, with a possible J.P. Howell cameo depending on matchups.

Grant Balfour has pitched better lately than I thought possible, AAA really helped him. I wish they would have brought Birkins back up, he pitched well in his brief opportunity, or Dohmann. Is this the time for Talbot’s MLB debut? His numbers weren’t very impressive at Durham. Also, Hit Upton leadoff, that is the best spot for him.
Go Rays!
