On June 29, 2010, Officer David Curtis pulled over a vehicle for a seemingly routine traffic stop. Officer Jeffrey Kocab arrived shortly after as backup. The next communication was a 911 report of two officers shot. Both officers were rushed to Tampa General Hospital where they passed away later that morning. Officer Curtis is survived by his wife Kelly and four sons; Officer Kocab is survived by his wife Sara.
To provide assistance and support from this tragedy, Carlos & Pamela Peña have joined the team to Uncork for a Cause with the release of a very limited production of Carlos Peña red wine from Napa Valley, California. Net proceeds from the sale of this wine will benefit the families of these fallen Tampa officers through the Curtis-Kocab Memorial Fund.
Carlos Peña wine will be released during an event hosted by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, the exclusive Tampa location for Carlos Peña wine, on Sunday September 26, 2010 at 6:00 PM. Please join the Peña’s and their special guests for an evening complete with the first uncorking of Carlos’ wine, hors d’Oeuvres from Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, wine tasting, silent auction items and an opportunity to say thank you to those who put their lives in danger every day: members of the Tampa Police Department.
Limited to 150 guests, admission is only $50. Carlos Peña wine will also be offered for sale, and the price includes a personalized autograph and photo opportunity. If you are unable to attend, proceeds from online orders of Carlos’ wine will also benefit the foundation. For event tickets, details, and wine orders, visit UncorkforaCause.com.
