Pasco, Land O’ Lakes to meet for spring game in May

Long-time county rival Pasco and Land O’ Lakes will meet this May in the teams’ spring game, Pirates coach Tom McHugh told the Tampa Tribune on Thursday afternoon.
In the past, the Gators and the Pirates generally meet the second week of the regular season, but with new districts coming this season, the teams will not face each other for the first time since the series started in 1976. Pasco holds the edge 21-16, including winning this past season 49-7.
The past few seasons, Pasco was playing Nine-Mile War Rival Zephyrhills in its annual spring game, while Land O’ Lakes had been playing Wiregrass Ranch. However, the teams opted to play each other in the spring since there is no regular season meeting.
A date, time and location have not yet been set for the game, McHugh added, but the game should be played in late May.
