Though it may be 243 miles away, fans still have options to attend Pasco’s Class 5A state semifinal game Friday at Crawfordville Wakulla.

Parents have organized up to four fan buses with plenty of seats available that will make a round trip to game that kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Wakulla High Football Stadium.

“There might even be more buses, but for now, each that we have has 57 seats, but going fast,” said Harriet Riddaugh, who, along with her husband and freshman kicker Brandon Ray’s parents, set up these buses that will leave the Pasco High at Friday afternoon at 12:30 and return after the game.

Seats cost $25 per rider, while buyers will still have to purchase a $9 game ticket at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at two locations: Centennial Middle School or Something Special, a store located at 14106 7th Avenue in downtown Dade City. For more information, contact Christy Mitchell at Centennial at (352) 524-9700 or call Something Special at (352) 437-5907.

The buses will leave about an hour after the team leaves in the charter buses, following, what school administrators hope can be an impromptu pep rally. However, no official plans or send offs have been planned at this time. Athletic administrators and Pirates athletic director Tom McHugh added that other athletic events, such as the Pasco boys soccer team hosting Land O’ Lakes on Friday evening and the girls soccer team playing at Land O’ Lakes.

Pasco (13-0) returns to the state semifinals (or final four teams in Class 5A) for the second time in the past four seasons and third time in the program’s history. In 2008, the Pirates pulled off a 13-12 upset of Citra North Marion, a team that was ranked No. 1 in the state at the time, and then hosted Tallahassee Godby at W.F. Edwards Stadium, but fell 28-14.

On Friday, Pasco rolled Jesuit 31-7 and the win came just two weeks shy of the 19th anniversary of Pasco’s 28-16 win over Jesuit for the 1992 Class 3A state title, the lone state title in Pasco County high school football history.
