Berkeley Prep senior outside hitter Chelsea Parker, who this past season helped the Buccaneers capture the Class 3A state volleyball title, will play for Princeton University, Berkeley coach Randy Dagostino said.
Parker ended the 2009 season with 185 kills, 25 blocks, 302 digs and 167 serves received.
At Princeton, Parker will compete against older sister and former Berkeley setter Kate Parker, who plays for Yale.
Princeton will also welcome an accomplished student. Parker scored a 33-36 on the ACT, accumulated an unweighted GPA of 3.84 with seven Advance Placement and seven Honors courses, is a member of the school’s Match Club and has been on the Honor Council for four years.
“Chelsea had competed passionately year round for seven years in our volleyball program, and all the while was able to keep things in the proper perspective by preparing for her future,” Dagostino said. “We are very proud of Chelsea and her decision to attend Princeton University.”
Plant senior middle hitter Leah Jordan, who helped the Panthers win their fourth consecutive state title last season, has also committed to Princeton.
