It appears that the secondary worked out their communication problems of week one. It appears Sabby was in the right place at the right time this week—better than his having been in the wrong place a few steps too late last week. Still Lee Evans and Terrell Owens each hauled in a long TD pass on the day. Sadly, the coverage Ronde Barber (Evans’ score) and Aquib Talib (Owens score) had was just about textbook. Give Trent Edwards (who?) props for two perfect passes. Is that one step forward? One step back? Neutral?
Personal foul. Facemask.
Our running game fell far short of last week’s huge totals. And Byron Leftwich spent most of his afternoon getting up off the ground. Looks our O-Line took a step backwards.
Personal foul. Facemask.
I’ll say this: Our receivers had a strong showing today. They showed you some toughness and some great hands—Maurice Stovall’s catch was one that would make the top ten plays on ESPN, except for the fact that it happened in Buffalo, and it’s so rare that there are highlights there, producers probably won’t have noticed.
Personal foul. Facemask.
Player of the game: Sabby Piscatelli - after last week’s outing, he rebounded. Goat of the game: Referee Ron Winter - how in the heck did you miss the call on that second interception? That ball hit the ground not once, but twice, for crying out loud. Tough day. Schedule doesn’t look to be getting any easier, and that might be what disappoints me most. Today was as good a chance for a Buccaneer win as we may see for a few weeks. I guess we’ll have to go get one the hard way.
Personal foul. Facemask.
What did you see out there today?
