Plant City junior football player Jordan Prestwood won’t be able to sign with a college program until National Signing Day in 2011. That doesn’t mean this year’s signing day didn’t turn out to be a big one for him, though.
Plant City coach Jason Strunk said Wednesday morning that Notre Dame officially extended a scholarship offer to the Raiders’ 6-foot-6, 260-pound tight end, who was a Tribune All-Hillsborough County first team pick in 2009. Prestwood told the Tribune last fall that Notre Dame was his No. 1 choice.
Strunk said Prestwood, who also holds offers from Auburn, USF, UCF, FIU, South Carolina, West Virginia and Purdue, isn’t ready to commit to the Fighting Irish quite yet, but that he was excited about picking up the offer.
Strunk added Notre Dame is recruiting Prestwood as an offensive lineman. The schools recruiting Prestwood are mixed between moving him to the offensive line or keeping him at tight end.
