The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have plenty of money to spend in free agency. Bucs General Manager Mark Dominik has already forewarned fans not to expect their team to be super active when free agency begins.
That being said, IF the Bucs wanted to make a run at an impact defensive player, it looks like Panthers DE Julius Peppers will available in 2010.
According to the Associated Press, the agent for Peppers is convinced the five-time Pro Bowl pick will play elsewhere next season Peppers And Panthers Not Talking Here is a portion of that story:
“Carl Carey said Sunday night the Panthers have “not made a single inquiry this offseason” regarding the impending unrestricted free agent.
“And we don’t expect to hear from them,” Carey told The Associated Press in a phone interview, setting the stage for Peppers to become one of the top defensive players to hit the market in years ahead of a potential season without a salary cap.”
Peppers is 30-years old, and we all know the Bucs could use some help on their defensive line, but odds are greater he returns to Tampa in another team’s uniform as opposed to a Bucs jersey.
