TAMPA - The National Football Post has come out with its Week 1 power rankings and Bucs fans have reason to be encouraged by them.
Unlike most outlets, the bulk of which have the Bucs ranked somewhere between 28th and 32nd, the NFP has the Bucs at No. 25 overall.
“The Bucs are rebuilding their team on the fly, but they have the running backs to move the football,’’ NFP says.
According to NFP’s rankings, the Bucs may even be favored for their Week 2 game against Buffalo, which comes in at No. 27 overall.
The Good news pretty much ends there. Three of the teams the Bucs face before the bye – The Giants, Eagles and Patriots – are ranked in the top 10, as are the Saints.
NFP is a football-related website whose content is provided by current and former league insiders such as former NFL executive Mike Lombardi, agent Jack Bechta and former NFL safety Matt Bowen.
